I woke up this morning earlier than I have pretty much all break in order to go on a coach ride of London and see all of the big sites.
The tour guide was super nice and was eager to answer questions and tell us all kinds of fun facts about the city itself. I loved just looking at the juxtaposition of the old and the new buildings. Everything seems to flow so well even though there is a bank in a 17th century british home. Just one of the many reasons I’ve already decided I love it here. Everywhere you go there is so much history!
We stopped on the Queens Bridge to look at the Tower Bridge and to see the Tower of London from a better angle. And I took lots of pictures.
You can see so much and it’s all so beautifully detailed and intricate it’s just mind-blowing.
The next stop was Westminster Abbey which was where Kate and William got married and actually where 40 different kings and queens have held their coronations. The church was apparently built specifically for royal events and such.
Anyways we basically went all around London and saw just about everything that you could see (although I was on the left side of the coach, and there were a lot of things on the right side), but I know there is more to discover in the days to come. 🙂
We all headed back to our rooms where we ate some lunch and promptly took a nap until we had a PA meeting (basically it’s our RA here). Met the people in the flat next door who are all grad students in the film program at FSU. They were all super nice.
Then we went back to our room and chit chatted and talked. Ember and I decided that maybe we should go back to Sainsbury’s to get some groceries, but when we got there everything was closed because it’s Sunday. Apparently everything closes early on Sundays. This is a good fact to know if you are ever in London and hungry on a Sunday afternoon.
So we walked back to flat where I’ve been ever since. Just chit chatting with my mates from home and my flat-mates while eating some delicious chocolate cake. All in all I think a pretty good day.
Tomorrow we begin actually classes. We start with Statistics from 9 until 11 and then we have a break for lunch and then we come back. But I’m excited for classes to start I think that it will be fun! (I think I’m the only one who thinks math will be fun, but hey!)
