Today we didn’t have Stats, so we slept in! 🙂 Then some of us got together to go to the Camden Market which is this really cool open/street market that Taylor has been talking about and I’d heard about from last years GLSers. So with our Oyster cards in hand we headed out.
Camden Town stop is about 4 stops from ours (Tottingham Court) and maybe took us 15 minutes on the wonderful Underground. Once we got to Camden though, literally once we stepped out of the subway entrance, flyers were being shoved in our paths and people were trying to catch our attention. It was a lot like Canal Street in New York on the main road, but as you got into the little shops it became more of a flee market.
They literally sold EVERYTHING. They had so many different items, clothes, jewelry, food, you name it–they had it. Anything from gothic corsets to all lace tutus. It was so amazing! And everything was relatively well priced. Since a lot of the sellers had literally the exact same items you could haggle with them or just find a better price somewhere else. We didn’t buy anything, but that was really hard to do! I liked everything!
My favorite part though was these really cool stores that were set up in this old stable and literally the stores were in the old stalls. They also had horse statues and reliefs everywhere within this part of the market. Most of the stores in this part of the market sold vintage stuff which only added to the feel of the place being old. I just love how they reuse all their buildings here, I think it’s so neat.
After taking a look around the markets, we decided that maybe we should get a bite to eat. I had some Chinese food that was so good! I really needed that Chinese food. I’m really starting to get a little over cheese and crackers, but I need to save my money!
We ate our lovely meals and then we headed back on account that Camden isn’t really the type of place you want to be in after dark. At this point we got a little lost in the Underground, but eventually found our way back to our flats. 🙂 Where I am now, eating some cheese and crackers and drinking my water thinking that I might just turn in a little early tonight.
