As expected, this week my internship was much more exciting. This was probably a combination of doing new things and not being sick.
On Monday I was supposed to work for corporate fundraising, but my supervisor was not in, so I ended up working for the event planning team. I stuffed envelopes with information about the 12 Bridges Walk that the hospice has coming up in May. Later, I helped stuff envelopes for the Sleep Walk that is also being held in May. Even though it sounds boring, it was actually therapeutic! (And I ended up not getting any paper cuts, this was quite a feat for me.)
On Tuesday, I was supposed to work for the communications team, but they weren’t there! They were at a training day of some sort. I ended up working for the guy in the office that is in charge of logging the people and corporations that are involved monetarily at the hospice. I inputted data from paper work into the main data base for a lot of day, and I also did some filing.
Wednesday was a really fun day! The communications team and events team came together and arranged a photo shoot on Liverpool Street to promote the Sleep Walk. The Sleep Walk is a midnight walk that benefits the hospice; all the participants will wear their pajamas for a fun twist the night the event takes place.
A bed was set up in the middle of a busy lunch spot for all of the businesses located around the area. Some volunteers were dressed in their pajamas and tennis shoes, knowing they were going to be in the pictures. The other unsuspecting patrons dressed in business suits in the pictures came from around the area. They were asked to be in the photos randomly and agreed! (Yes, people that had no connection to the hospice were willing to help!) I was supposed to be here to help hand out flyers and such, but when they needed one more girl for the pictures, I got volunteered. So, I was in a photo shoot to promote the hospice. They gave me the rest of the day off because I was such a good sport! Haha (:
Thursday I worked with the events team again, doing several little tasks such as addressing envelopes, data entry, and filing. Friday was spring-cleaning at the office! I got to wear jeans and a t-shirt to work, and then got to organize (something I LOVE to do) and clean. It was a nice way to end the week.
I cannot believe week 4 of my internship is over! I also cannot believe that I no longer have a full week at my internship anymore. I don’t know where all of my time is going, but it’s going fast.
